　　爱德华·P·琼斯是继托尼·莫里森之后在美国文坛崛起又一位风格独特的非裔小说家。他的作品并不以种族问题为中心,而是着重描述非裔美国人的经历和生存现状。《已知世界》是他的第一部长篇小说,也是他关于蓄奴制的代表作。作品从黑人奴隶主这一独特的主题切入,通过人物刻画和细节处理,深入挖掘了美国蓄奴制的复杂本质。 近年来,一些美国非裔小说家借用后现代写作手法,以戏仿、借用、拼凑等拆解传统奴隶小说叙述形式,突出对历史作为话语建构的关注。部分当代小说家注重对历史事件的文本呈现方式,力求在历史真实和话语场域之间达到动态平衡。本文将从这个方面入手,结合西方历史编撰理论关于历史与文本关系的阐释,研究《已知世界》对奴隶史的文本重构,从而探索当代奴隶叙事文本的发展趋势。小说不仅探讨了历史与文本在当代奴隶叙述中的互动关系,而且打破了传统的“大写历史”模式,聚焦于边缘化奴隶群体的多样化“小写历史”。借助新历史主义和后现代历史编撰理论,本文探寻了琼斯重访历史的独特模式,小说在挑战传统奴隶叙事模式的同时,也开创了新世纪奴隶叙事文本的发展方向。
