从功能视角分析《红字》中主要人物的性格特征

　　关于霍桑及他的小说《红字》的研究成果国内外很多。本文拟从另外一个角度：功能文体学（functional stylistics）的角度去分析该作品的主要人物海斯特普林、罗杰齐林渥斯和阿瑟丁姆斯代尔的性格特征。其理论依据主要是韩礼德功能语言学（Functional linguistics）中的及物性理论（transitivity）和人际功能意义（interpersonal meaning）.通过及物性和人际功能意义的分析,可以发现海斯特普林的坚强、善良,罗杰齐林渥斯冷酷和邪恶和丁姆斯代尔牧师的软弱。本文分六个部分,第一部分是概述,简要介绍功能语言学特别是功能文体学中关于文体、及物性及人际意义的理论背景。第二部分介绍《红字》的相关书评。第三至五部分运用及物性理论、人际功能意义的情态、意态隐喻以及语篇元功能分别对三个主要人物进行分析,继而挖掘其性格特征。第六部分是对全文的总结。
