华裔美国文学自其诞生已有百余年的历史。在美国华裔作家作品中,女性作家及其作品更是备受瞩目。继水仙花、谭恩美、汤婷婷等享誉中外的华裔女作家之后,二十世纪六、七十年代,随着女权主义的广泛传播,一些年轻杰出的华裔作家不断涌现。华裔戏剧悄然兴起。本论文所研究的戏剧打碎玻璃的作者迪梅·罗伯茨是一位在社会上有广泛影响的剧作家。她写了很多广播作品,出版了三部知名的戏剧,多次荣获国家级文学奖项,其中包括俄勒冈最佳戏剧图书奖。剧作《打碎玻璃》是一部深深打上作者本人移民经历的反映跨种族家庭生活的作品。 在当今全球化进程日益加速的时代,从不同种族的文化入手,研究在世界范围内,各种不同的文化如何和谐共融,以避免激烈冲突,实现互利双赢,具有重大的现实意义。家庭是社会的基本单位,家庭的和谐是整个社会和谐和个人发展的坚实动力和精神基础。多种族家庭生活是不同种族文化的国与国相处的缩影。本文从不同的中美家庭价值观的角度入手分析了剧中家庭矛盾产生的根源,进而发现求同存异,相互理解和宽容是维系跨种族家庭温馨安宁的关键,也是国与国之间实现有好互惠交往的关键。
