论《基姆》的文体特征

　　诺贝尔文学奖得主鲁德亚德·吉卜林是英国文学史上最备受争议的作家之一。由于其与印英两国的亲密关系,评论家和研究者都倾向于探讨吉卜林作品中的身份困惑、政治倾向等主题思想,鲜有学者关注其写作手法与文体特征。因此,本文试图以《小说文体论》为理论来源,通过文学文体学这一视角探索其经典之作《基姆》的文体特征。文学文体学研究强调有选择地呈现语言特征和叙事策略并分析其对表达主题意义、加强审美作用产生的文体效果。基于文本细读,本文从《基姆》的词汇、语法和语境三个层面选取具体语言叙事特征加以分析。论文第一章分析了词汇特征。该小说运用了两种第二人称代词。以英语为交流语言的对话中,小说人物均以表敬意的“You”称呼对方,这体现出吉卜林血统中的英国优越感。而用以称呼地位低劣或关系亲密之人的“Thou”总出现在印度方言对话中。这说明虽然吉卜林认为印度落后于英国,他仍保持着与印度的亲密关系;此外,英语的词汇和拼写偏离也时常出现。为更本真地呈现印度语言多样化的社会现状,吉卜林在以英语书写的《基姆》中保留了大量印度方言词汇。为形象地呈现印度本国方言口音对英语的影响,英语词汇的错误拼写也时常可见。第二章探讨了语法特征。吉...
