由于工业发展和现代化带来的城市化,城市已经成为大多数人生存的空间。小说《他们》中,欧茨描写了温德尔一家在底特律市的生活,向读者介绍了被作者称为“他们”的一个社会群体,并展示了“他们”在城市中生活的艰辛以及城市和人的复杂关系:城市的进化和人的生活之间存在因果关系,同时人的生活也对典型的美国工业城市的重塑产生一定的作用。底特律的城市意象是理解城市与人之间关系的关键因素。本文期望通过分析城市意象及审查其在人们脑中意象概念的形成来研究城市与人之间的关系,阐述城市在人类心灵中的意象,以期通过城市文化精神的传承来反思人类的思想、文化、经济、科技、社会发展模式,为探寻人类生存危机及其社会根源起到积极作用。在小说《他们》中,作者使用了大量的隐喻来将抽象的城市意象具象化。本文从认知语言学视角,用意象图示和概念隐喻理论分析书中的城市意象。首先,对全书内容进行梳理,找出书中与各个生活于底特律的普通劳动者们头脑中对于这个城市所形成的意象相关的57组语句,并将其按照所描述的内容进行分类。然后,对于这57组语句进行分析,运用意象图示和概念隐喻理论抽象出语句中关于城市意象的隐喻。最后,将所抽象出的隐喻进行分类,并通...
