后殖民主义视角下《丛林之书》中吉卜林帝国想象研究

约瑟夫·鲁德亚德·吉卜林是二十世纪英国享有盛誉的重要作家之一。他是第一个英国诺贝尔文学奖获得者,也是迄今为止诺贝尔文学奖最年轻的获得者。他的作品简洁凝炼,充满异国情调,尤其短篇小说颇具特色。其中,短篇小说集《丛林之书》为被视为吉卜林的代表作。《丛林之书》题材广泛,格调高雅,富有情趣,脍炙人口。自问世以来,国内外学者对它的研究如雨后春笋般出现。许多学者从小说中的“法则”出发,探讨吉卜林的帝国思想。虽然有少数学者提到《丛林之书》中吉卜林的帝国思想具有一定的理想性,但并未深入探究吉卜林理想帝国的主要构成要素。本文将以赛义德《文化与帝国主义》中揭示的小说创作与帝国霸权的共谋关系为基础,运用霍米·巴巴的“混杂”理论以及姜礼福的“动物帝国主义”理论,从后殖民主义视角出发,探讨吉卜林在小说《丛林之书》中理想帝国的文化策略。本文共五章。第一章简要介绍作家作品,梳理国内外相关论题的研究综述,并说明本文的理论基础及研究内容。第二章从帝国寓言角度出发,运用霍米·巴巴的“混杂”等理论,分析总结《丛林之书》中帝国想象的构成要素,即:深得殖民地人民热爱的理想殖民者——“混杂人”;有培养理想殖民者的系统教育体系;有...
