伦理批评视野下的《名利

萨克雷的杰作《名利场》和毛姆的小说《彩色的面纱》中的女主人公的爱情与婚姻选择中都承载着严肃的道德指向。因此,这两部小说的女主人公是有可比性的。本论文从文学伦理批评的角度,拟比较《名利场》中生活在维多利亚时代的女主人公利蓓加·夏普和《彩色的面纱》中生活在十九世纪二十年代的女主人公凯蒂·贾斯汀的爱情与婚姻选择,由此,洞察处于边缘位置的英国女性想要改变命运所进行的抗争是徒劳无获的,想要在父权社会改善境遇乃至赢得独立所面临的困难时难以言述的。本论文由三大部分组成。绪论部分包含了对两位作家、两部作品的简介,两部作品的文献综述,两位女主人公的可比性,理论框架以及论文框架。正文部分分为四章。第一章聚焦在利蓓加和凯蒂各自的婚姻选择的前提和基础上,来揭示一个惊人的事实,即在英国二十世纪早期,虽然女性社会地位相较于维多利亚时代已有所提高,但这两个时代女性的择偶观是相似的。主宰女性婚姻选择的,依然是她们对男性的物质依赖,而不是相互的情感依附。第二章分析了利蓓加和凯蒂在婚姻中出轨其他男性的道德沦丧的过程,探究导致她们堕落的背后相似的原因,被丈夫发现道德败坏后,她们不同的反应所体现的不同的婚姻伦理。第三章考察两...
