奥古斯特·威尔逊《广播高尔夫》中的戏剧符号研究

奥古斯特·威尔逊是当代美国最具影响力的非裔剧作家之一。《广播高尔夫》是其“匹兹堡系列剧”的最后一部,于2007年获得纽约剧评界最佳戏剧奖。由于该剧问世较晚,国内外学者对其研究较少,且关注重点也主要是剧中主人公哈蒙德·威尔克斯的人物形象。对于剧中人物戏剧化塑造及其目的、展现人物行动和矛盾冲突背后的意图、多元戏剧空间和独特戏剧话语的运用等问题,尚无人进行系统研究。本文以法国戏剧符号学家安娜·于贝斯菲尔德的戏剧符号学理论为据,视该剧的戏剧文本为整体的戏剧符号,聚焦其剧中的戏剧化人物、戏剧行动素模式、戏剧空间和戏剧话语,从而实现对该剧更为深入的解读。本文发现威尔逊在剧中对人物进行戏剧化塑造,剧中关键人物曾出现在其他剧中,或是其他剧中人物的后代。这种人物戏剧化手法使该剧与系列剧的其他几部紧密相连,以此呈现一幅黑人群体的百年生存画面,并告诫处于新旧世纪之交的黑人同胞铭记本族历史。其次,运用戏剧行动素模式可以清楚看出,该剧的人物行动和矛盾冲突紧紧围绕主人公的市长竞选问题和祖先遗产威利大街1839号房屋的拆迁问题展开,从而揭示作家对祖先文化遗产去留的态度。研究还发现,通过巧妙借助戏剧物体和空间实践,作...
