科勒等值理论视角下《伦敦不为人知的一面》英汉翻译实践报告

本文是詹姆斯·尤因·里奇所著《伦敦不为人知的一面》节选部分的英汉翻译实践报告。译者以科勒的等值理论为指导,针对实际翻译过程中如何实现词汇对等、交际对等及文本形式对等问题,提出了有效的翻译策略进行应对。翻译是两种语言间的“对话”,翻译等值研究有助于对话的顺利进行,实现源文本和目标文本的对等。“等值”作为西方翻译理论的一大核心概念,也无疑受到国内外许多学者的重点关注。瑞士语言学家沃纳·科勒重新定义“等值”这一概念,提出等值翻译理论,划分了五种等值关系类型,即外延、内涵、文本规范、语用和形式等值关系。受源语文本及目标读者所处交际情境的限制,译文的不同部分需要达到不同的等值要求。本实践报告中,译者以等值理论为指导,运用直译、直译加注、增译、调适等翻译方法,探讨如何在翻译中实现外延、内涵、语用和形式等值关系,从而获得比较理想的翻译效果。
