消费社会理论下《夜色温柔》的解析

弗朗西斯·斯科特·基·菲茨杰拉德是美国文学史上最重要的作家之一,被誉为爵士时代的代言人,是二十世纪二十年代旅居国外的“迷惘的一代”中的代表。本文以他的长篇小说《夜色温柔》作为研究对象,采用鲍德里亚的消费社会理论来分析消费文化开始盛行的时代大背景下小说中主要人物的命运。从而展现消费社会对人类生存与精神世界的巨大影响。《夜色温柔》中物欲横流和精神荒原的现象值得我们关注。菲茨杰拉德对当时上升的资产阶级准确的观察和写实的描写对物质至上的现代社会仍有启发作用。法国理论家鲍德里亚同时吸收了社会学和符号学的观点,形成其独特的消费社会理论。此理论可以加深对小说中大量的消费符号,异化的人际关系,以及人物悲剧成因的理解。本论文由六部分组成,绪论部分将介绍美国作家菲茨杰拉德及其作品《夜色温柔》,并提出论文的框架结构。第一章论述鲍德里亚的消费社会理论的起源与定义,并重点讨论消费社会的三大特点:符号消费、商品化的人际关系、享乐主义。接下来三章是论文的主体部分,是围绕理论展开对文本的分析。第二章将用消费社会理论的符号消费现象挖掘作品中人与物的关系,分别从被消费的商品和被消费的休闲活动这两个角度,阐释主人公如何依靠...
