任碧莲小说中的第二文化习得模式

　　在美国华裔作家任碧莲创作的两部小说《典型的美国佬》和《梦娜在希望之乡》中,主人公拉尔夫和梦娜都具有适应新文化环境的能力,都具有流动性的文化身份。在《典型的美国佬》中,由于移民到美国,传统的中国人拉尔夫被暴露在美国文化之中,可是随时间推移,他适应了这种文化,变为一个典型的美国人。在《梦娜在希望之乡》中,为了逃避中国文化传统的束缚,第二代美国华裔女孩梦娜转向犹太文化以求解脱,皈依了犹太教。 批评家们对这两个人物文化身份流动性的成因提出了不同的解释,诸如被动的同化或主动的文化认同。虽然个说纷纭,但他们都注意到了三个因素:拉尔夫和梦娜的母文化、他们适应的新文化以及他们的动机。 鉴于这三个因素,本文采用了第二文化习得(SCA)的视角来解释发生在拉尔夫和梦娜身上的变化,因为这种视角能把这三个因素综合起来。本文认为任碧莲小说中的主人公都和一种异于其母文化的文化产生了互动,这种互动与本文中的提出第二文化习得模式相吻合。 本文第一章概述了既有的关于第二文化习得的研究,提出了第二文化习得的模式。尽管第二文化习得研究至今为止还不成熟,还不足以被树立为一门学科,但是在这个领域中已经出现...
