温和语境论视阈下的认识模态句研究

  作为语言哲学研究的核心论题,意义问题历久弥新、广受瞩目。为了探求语言的意义,人们一直致力于确定句子的真值条件以判断句子所表达命题之真伪。在此过程中,我们不难发现一些命题的真值似乎更加难以确定。譬如,我们几乎可以不假思索地判断“孔子是中国最伟大的圣人之一”这一句子的真伪。可是要判断“孔子可能是中国最伟大的圣人之一”的真伪却并非易事。究其原因,前者仅关涉某可能世界存在的事实,而后者由于包含认识模态词“可能”而关涉某种可能性。这类包含认识模态词的句子(认识模态句,简称EMSs)之真值实难判断,一方面由于其字面意义与现实世界和个人背景提供的相关信息紧密相连、难以分割,另一方面由于我们在交流过程中互相交换并随时更新自身持有的思想而导致这些信息随之改变。因此,EMSs之真值不仅相关于真实世界的现实情况,而且与某人的认知信息相关联。问题在于:与谁的认知信息关联?言者?听者?旁观者?还是其他什么人?这个看似简单的问题业已引起了哲学家、语言学家和逻辑学家的广泛关注和激烈争论。就语言哲学界而言,最小论者、语境论者、表达论者、永恒论者和相对论者根据各自语义学与语用学分界的不同理解,对EMSs做出了不同的阐释...
